As required by Rhode
Island General Laws, the Town of Smithfield and its consultant, Vision
Appraisal Technology, have completed the Town’s Statistical Revaluation.
The value shown below represents fair market value as of 12/31/2006.
Please note that old assessments currently on record represent
market values resulting from the Revaluation of 12/31/2003.
Please DO NOT
use the old tax rate to calculate or estimate taxes using the new
assessments. A
new, lower tax
rate will be established once the reassessment program is completed and
the budget has been finalized in May 2007. Frozen Assessments (not
shown) will be used in place of the new revaluation value to determine
the Elderly Freeze.
If you feel that the
new proposed assessment does not reflect the current market value of
your real estate as of 12/31/2006, an appointment may be made with
Vision Appraisal Technology, by calling 1-888-844-4300.
Vision will take calls to schedule appointments from February 13 thru
February 23, 2007 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM weekdays.
Hearings will begin February 20th with day and evening
appointments available. Hearings are individual and private in nature,
and are by appointment only. Scheduled hearings will be held in the
Smithfield Town Hall, Council Chambers.
The results of your
hearing will be mailed once the hearing process is complete. If you are
not satisfied with the results, you may still appeal your assessment
once the Tax Bills have been mailed according to R.I. General Law.
You may also view your
new assessment data on Vision Appraisal Technology’s web site:
www.visionappraisal.com. This website will offer all Smithfield
owners the ability to acquire information on specific details used in
determining their new assessments. This site will also allow an
inquiry-only access to the Assessor’s database, including value summary,
building data, photo, and general revaluation information. A link to
this site is also provided on the Town’s website:
www.smithfieldri.com.
