PROPOSED FACILITIES PLAN AMENDMENT
SMITHFIELD WASTEWATER TREATMENT FACILITY 

Notice is hereby given of the intent to hold a public workshop on a draft wastewater facilities plan amendment.  The Smithfield Sewer Authority has undertaken facilities planning in order to meet Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) mandated treatment standards for zinc and phosphorus.  A draft facilities plan amendment is to be submitted to RIDEM by September 30, 2009.  This draft amendment must include the various options that were explored in order to meet the treatment requirements.  This workshop is intended to inform the public of the options that were explored as well as the recommended alternatives. 

The public workshop will be held before the next meeting of the Smithfield Sewer Authority, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at 6:30 pm in the Smithfield Town Council Chambers, 64 Farnum Pike, Smithfield, Rhode Island.  A record of the workshop will be made.
