Smithfield Earth Day 2008
Time: 9:00am EST
Location: Bouchard Conservation Center
The Smithfield Conservation Commission is celebrating Smithfield Earth Day 2008 as part of Keep America Beautiful's Great American Cleanup, and we are looking for volunteers to help. Our theme this year is Campaign for a Cleaner, Greener Smithfield.

Volunteers will meet at 9AM on April 19, at the Conservation Center, off Waterview Drive (behind the Smithfield Police Station), and form Cleanup Teams, and we will pick up litter and trash until noon. Each team will get a spot assignment, and then we all get to work!!! Keep Blackstone Valley Beautiful will supply Force-Flex bags and gloves. The Conservation Commission will supply bottles of water, and Dunkin’ Donuts will donate coffee and donuts.

For the first time, our town's Adopt-a-Spot sites will be part of the Cleaner, Greener Smithfield campaign. This year's volunteer list also includes a large contingent of Smithfield Scouts. Some of the areas to be cleaned of litter are: Reservoir Road, Cedar Swamp Road, Sybille Road, Stillwater Road near Smith-Appleby House, and sections of Farnum Pike. Suggestions are welcome - form your own team.

Volunteers are asked to call Sandra Mayer, at 595-7603. Please bring any supplies you can.
