Heritage Landscape Inventory Program

The Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor Commission and the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission have partnered with Smithfield to bring the Heritage Landscape Inventory program to our region. As part of our participation, we will be hosting this public meeting to solicit input on the development of a list of potential heritage landscapes in Smithfield. Heritage landscapes are special places created by human interaction with the natural environment that help define the character of our community and reflect its past. While many of us may immediately think of Smith-Appleby House, there are countless other special places in our community that we need to identify in order to plan for their protection. We hope you’ll be able to join us on June 17th to assist in this critical task.
