Dogs are required to be registered every April. A valid rabies certificate is required at the time of registration. Smithfield residents are allowed three (3) dogs per household.

All dogs (Town): $8.00.

Dog licenses may be obtained at the Smithfield Town Clerk's office during normal business hours, M-F, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. You may contact the Town Clerk's Office at 401-233-1000, ext. 113, or contact our Animal Shelter at 401-233-1055.

Traditionally during the month of March, the Town of Smithfield holds a rabies clinic where dogs and cats can receive their rabies shot at reduced rates. Licenses for dogs may be obtained at the clinic. Dates, times, and other details will be placed in the Valley Breeze Observer and on the Online Town Calendar.

Kennel Licenses are renewed every March. The fee is $25.00
