Frequently Asked Questions
Who is eligible
to receive donations?
All
clients are screened to assure all monies, food and clothing are
appropriately distributed according to their needs. All those in need
are eligible such as clients of F&P, Family Independence Program, GPA,
SSI, SSDI and low income families, unable, for legitimate reasons, to
provide food for themselves.
What kind of aid is available?
Money is distributed to those
unable to meet or pay their utility bills such as electric, oil and
gas. Funds are also distributed for emergency prescription needs and
clothing and food for those who have little.
What about holidays?
Holidays are a very difficult
time for those in need. On Thanksgiving, baskets are prepared with
turkeys and all the trimmings. Christmas involves the same
responsibility along with finding new toys to pass out to the children.
This past Easter, one school made and donated thirty Easter baskets for
children ages four to six. They brought smiles to many faces.
How can I donate?
Most donations are voluntary
and many are anonymous. Donations are also solicited when necessary.
There are many local organizations that regularly provide donations.
Please contact Vivian Auerbach at 949-4590 if you would like to make a
donation.
What are
the most needed food items?
Coffee (including decaf), tea, boxed cereal, macaroni & cheese, peanut
butter, jelly, cake & dessert mixes, packaged cookies & crackers.
Gift cards to local supermarkets allow recipients to purchase fresh
foods. Please call ahead for donations of fresh or frozen food
such as turkeys.
