Employment Opportunity: Assistant Town Engineer

Assistant Town Engineer: Full-time, non-union, salaried position. Responsible to assist in the design review of public and private construction projects, land developments, as well as the performance of a variety of duties, which will be assigned by the Town Engineer or the Town Manager. Work requires a thorough technical knowledge of civil engineering, computers, drainage, sewer, specifications, inspection, drafting and estimating. This person also provides support in regards to any Sewer or Waste Water Treatment projects. This position works with several town ordinances; including, but not limited to the sewer, soil erosion, zoning and landscaping ordinances. Duties include plan review, approval and enforcement under the direction of the Town Engineer. Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering plus a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience; Registered as an Engineer-in-Training or ability to obtain within six months of hire; GIS knowledge; strong computer skills; and strong AutoCAD skills. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Salary range is $53,500 – $63,500 depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits. Employment Opportunity: Snow Plow Driver, DPW

Snow Plow Driver, Department of Public Works: Temporary, seasonal positions available. This is an on-call position for plowing events on an as-needed basis. Responsibilities include the operation of town-owned plow trucks. Experience plowing snow and snow removal operations preferred; ability to plow and operate a sander for a lengthy duration. Hourly rate is $25 for a valid CDL B license. Hourly rate is $23 for a regular driver’s license. Requires a high school diploma or G.E.D. No benefits. Employment Opportunity: Lifeguards

LIFEGUARDS – Must be non- surf certified and have valid CPR & first aid cards at time of appointment. Beach hours are 10 am – 6 pm, seven days a week from mid -June to Labor Day. A rotating schedule is used. Rate $16/hr. Must possess a valid driver’s license. If you need training- the Smithfield YMCA conducts training. Students completing the lifeguard training program are eligible to apply to the Town of Smithfield beaches and /or YMCA for spring & summer employment.
