Employment Opportunity: Finance Director / Tax Collector

Finance Director / Tax Collector: Full-time, non-union, salaried position. Responsibilities include: coordination of all financial and purchasing activities of the town; development of financial policies; maintenance of municipal accounting systems, financial forecasting, capital planning, reporting and compliance; supervising staff; preparation & maintenance of financial records and budgets. Requirements include: A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s degree preferred) plus five years related experience at a supervisory level and knowledge of laws, ordinances & regulations governing municipal assessment practices. Proficient in the use of Microsoft office, budgetary & accounting software. Attending some evening meetings required. Salary is $92k – 99k DOQ. Excellent benefits. Employment Opportunity: Building/Zoning Official

Building/Zoning Official: Town of Smithfield: Full-time, salaried position. Responsibilities include: Interpret & enforce ordinances related to building, zoning, minimum housing, and other local ordinances. Requirements include: Extensive experience with construction, design, plans, specs & blueprints; construction materials; fire prevention, ventilation, etc. Must be familiar with R.I. Building Code. Must be a certified Building Official in accordance with R.I.G.L. 23-27.3-107.5. Must possess a high school diploma and have at least five (5) years’ experience in construction, design, or supervision. An Associate’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college in the fields of Architecture, Engineering or a related field is highly desired. Proven oral & written communication skills. Ability to deal with the public in a polite and effective manner. Ability to use Microsoft Office. Some weekend and evening work will be necessary. Salary range is 78k-95k DOQ. Employment Opportunity: Firefighter

Firefighter: Seeking qualified candidates to establish an eligibility list. Applicants must have a high school diploma or G.E.D. Be at least 18 years old. Possess a valid Operators License. Hold current licensure as an EMT in the State of Rhode Island. In addition, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen at time of appointment. Must present a current RI EMT Advanced / Cardiac or EMT-Paramedic license at time of appointment. Must provide a certificate from the RI Association of Fire Chief’s showing successful completion of the physical performance assessment. Only certificates issued in 2019 will be accepted.
