Summer Employment

Gate Guard – Ability to maintain Town beach & facilities; enforce beach passes & stickers. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Gate Guard Job Description (.pdf)

Lifeguards: The Town of Smithfield is currently accepting applications for temporary, seasonal, lifeguard positions. Must be non- surf certified and have valid CPR & first aid cards at time of appointment. Beach hours are 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., seven days a week, weather permitting, from mid – June to Labor Day. A rotating schedule is used. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Rate is $14.00 per hour. Lifeguard Job Description (.pdf) 

If you need training – the Smithfield YMCA conducts lifeguard training. Students completing the training program are eligible to apply to the Town of Smithfield beaches and /or YMCA for spring & summer employment. Seasonal Laborer: Landscaping, Grounds & Maintenance: Commercial landscaping experience preferred. Must possess a high school diploma or G.E.D.; Be at least 18 years old and have a valid Driver’s license. Ability to work 7 am – 3:30 pm, Mon- Fri from May – December (weather permitting.) Responsibilities include operating equipment & performing manual labor (i.e. grass cutting, lining fields, irrigation, pruning, weeding, cleaning, painting, etc.) Experience operating zero-turn mowers, grass trimmers, blowers and chainsaws preferred. Rate is $14.00 – $16.00 per hour depending on qualifications. No benefits.
