Deputy Tax Assessor: Full-time, hourly, union position. Responsibilities include: Assisting the Tax Assessor in coordinating the valuation of all residential, commercial, industrial, and exempt real property and personal property for taxation purposes. All work is done in accordance with the statutory requirements of the Department of Revenue for the State of Rhode Island. Associate’s Degree preferred. Rhode Island Certified Assessment Personnel certification must be obtained and maintained throughout appointment. Requires a minimum of three years of experience in municipal assessing. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and possess exceptional communication and customer service skills. Annual salary is $56,137.64 (less 5% during probation, per union contract.) Excellent benefits. TEMPORARY, SEASONAL HELP NEEDED

  • LIFEGUARDS – Must be non- surf certified and have valid CPR & first aid cards at time of appointment. Beach hours are 10 am – 6 pm, seven days a week from mid June to Labor Day. A rotating schedule is used. Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Job Description (.pdf)

    If you need lifeguard training – the Smithfield YMCA conducts training. Students completing the lifeguard training program are eligible to apply to the Town of Smithfield beaches and /or YMCA for spring & summer employment. Call Shauna Lewis at the YMCA- 949-2480 ext. 102 for more information on lifeguard training.
